So summer flew by and I hardly knew it. Summer in Alaska is beautiful, but short, so I haven't been around very much at all for a bit. But now they days are getting short very quickly here and the nights getting cold.
And speaking of cold we have a bit of a dilemma this year. I pretty much can straight up just not afford the nearly $5000 it will cost to fill our tank with heating oil for the winter. We just spent the better part of the afternoon/evening today chopping, hauling. stacking and splitting firewood, like a lot of our neighbors are doing this year rather than filling their tanks. The only problem is, because of the age and condition of our wood stove, I don't trust it being lit with no one home.
What I plan on doing is opening up for commissions to help us possibly buy a new wood stove for the house, and if possible a new electric water heater so we can turn the boiler off all together (currently we have a insulated hot water tank that is boiler fed) The stove we are looking at is about $700 and the water heater about #300. So sigs, desktops, portraits, whatever...send me a note and we can work something out. I do photo restoration and retouching as well. I will also have a couple of texture packages in the next few days that have not been available before that you will be able to purchase directly through me before they become available in the shops if you would like to help that way.
